Plastic waste has become one of the biggest environmental challenges in Indonesia. The Ministry of Environment of Indonesia records that around 10.8 million tons, or more than the total national waste is made up of plastic, while the national recycling has only reached 22%.
This is why NEC Indonesia and ABeam Consulting Indonesia have come together to reduce plastic waste. United by the same belief that contributing to the environment is part of responsible business practice, we have partnered with Plastic Bank® as a trusted partner in plastic waste management. Through this partnership, plastic waste will be collected, sorted, and channeled into official recycling paths, so it does not end up in open environments or waterways.
This program is an early step toward a wider impact. Beyond the environmental benefits, this program opens additional income opportunities for community members involved in the process. The collaboration between NEC Indonesia and ABeam Consulting Indonesia marks a new beginning to move forward together in reducing plastic waste.
Akifumi Katano, President Director, NEC Indonesia said “This CSR collaboration is highly consistent with our identity as a company dedicated to creating social value and contributing to society through our business activities while living harmoniously with the Earth to help secure a better future for the next generation.”
Ken Harada, Managing Director, ABeam Consulting Indonesia affirms that “This initiative not only contributes to reducing plastic waste and supporting local communities, but also strengthens the relationships between our people and organizations. Together with Plastic Bank® as our CSR partner, we hope to inspire our employees to take collective action and demonstrate how meaningful partnerships can create lasting value for both society and business. By working together, we can drive positive change while building a more sustainable future for generations to come.”
With shared goals and close collaboration with Plastic Bank® as a trusted partner in plastic waste management, we hope this program can inspire more similar movements to help preserve our environment and our beloved earth.
