Holding Endowed Lectures to Develop Future Human Capital for Social Innovation

Today, as various sectors and industries must work hand in hand to solve issues faced by society both in Japan and internationally, the development of human capital for social innovation is increasingly in demand.

Since fiscal year 2015, ABeam Consulting has offered endowed courses and lectures to universities and graduate schools.
Among these, in the endowed lectures given at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Management and the Faculty of Economics, which have been held continuously since fiscal year 2017.
Firstly, ABeam consultants serve as lecturers, teaching the definitions of social innovation / CSV* and advanced case studies of these in Japan and internationally, and methodologies for solving issues faced by society through business creation, all in a lecture format.

Next, on the theme of “formulating business models to resolve social issues in Kyoto”, groups are accompanied by ABeam consultants to have actual experiences of building and testing hypotheses to sustainably resolve issues faced by society.

Students who attended these lectures responded positively, with comments such as: “I was able to understand the thought process of creating a new business”, and “At first glance, it is easy to think that talent means everything when it comes to solving social issues, but through the lectures I was able to see that these are logic-based skills that can be acquired”.

In the future, we will keep contributing to society by the knowledge and know-how that ABeam has cultivated for the development of human capital focusing on social innovation.

*Creating Shared Value: A next-generation management model for creating both social and economic value by solving social issues, advocated by Professor Michael E. Porter.
