ABeam Consulting Supports JEITA with Industrywide High-Tech Measures Addressing the Year-2024 ISDN Service Termination Problem

ABeam Consulting Ltd. provides support for JEITA (the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) EC Center for formulating and publicizing industrywide high-tech measures addressing the Year 2024 problem* that will result from ISDN service termination.

The JEITA/EC Center has been studying industrywide policies in high tech in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and NTT East and West.

They have summarized their findings, reported on measures to be taken by the high-tech industry, and on transition procedures, at the ECALGA information technology seminar, titled “The Impact on EDI of IP-based Land Line Networks and the Countermeasures,” held on September 21, 2017.

*The “Year 2024 problem:”
As NTT East and West implements an IP-based land-line network across the country and terminates ISDN service in 2024, it is pointed out that such termination will significantly affect the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) used to order the system.
It is said that nearly half a million companies using ISDN for their orders will be affected.
