As AI agents move from task support to enterprise decision-making, Thai businesses must redesign how work gets done—not simply deploy more tools.

Artificial intelligence is entering a new phase. What began as tools to assist employees is evolving into AI agents that can reason, make recommendations, and coordinate work across functions. For business leaders, this marks more than a technology upgrade signals a new operating model for enterprise competitiveness.

Gartner® predicts that by 2028, 45% of CIOs will lead AI agent systems outside IT, becoming true co-architects of enterprise work resource models*1. The message for Thailand is clear: AI is becoming a core business capability that shapes how organizations design work, govern decisions, and create value.

From AI Adoption to Enterprise Redesign

Across Asia, many organizations have invested in digital transformation, automation, and AI. Yet results often remain incremental because AI is layered onto existing processes rather than embedded into how the business operates.

The next wave of value will come from redesigning workflows, decision-making, governance, and organizational structures around AI, not from automating one task at a time*2.

Procurement offers a simple example. AI can read invoices, classify documents, and automate approvals. These use cases improve efficiency, but they do not transform the enterprise if data remains fragmented and coordination still depends on manual handoffs.

A redesigned process looks different. AI connects procurement, finance, inventory, supplier performance, and logistics; flags risks before they escalate; recommends actions; and coordinates work across functions while employees focus on oversight, exceptions, and strategic decisions.

This is the shift toward becoming an AI-Native Enterprise.

Building the Foundations of an AI-Native Enterprise

For many Thai organizations, the biggest barrier is not the AI model itself but enterprise readiness. Fragmented systems, inconsistent data, manual workflows, and disconnected functions limit AI’s ability to deliver value at scale*2.

Leadership is equally critical. As AI begins to influence business decisions, governance can no longer sit only within IT. CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CHROs, legal teams, and business leaders must jointly define how AI supports growth, manages risk, improves customer experience, and strengthens resilience.

Success should also be measured differently. Rather than counting pilots, agents deployed, or hours saved, leaders should focus on business outcomes: faster decisions, greater capacity without proportional headcount growth, improved responsiveness, stronger risk controls, and new revenue opportunities.

Thailand’s Next Competitive Frontier

Figure 3. The AI-Native Enterprise: Thailand's Pivotal Shift

Thailand is reaching this inflection point as businesses face demographic pressure, regional competition, rising customer expectations, and continued digital transformation. AI offers more than productivity improvement; it gives enterprises a chance to rethink how value is created.

The organizations that lead the next decade will not be those with the most AI applications. They will be those that integrate technology, data, governance, and people into an operating model that continuously learns, adapts, and creates value.

Becoming AI-native is therefore not the next phase of digital transformation. It is a fundamental redesign of the enterprise itself.

In the era of intelligent agents, sustainable advantage will belong not to organizations that adopt AI first, but to those that redesign themselves to thrive with it!
