Governance

The business environment is changing dramatically, imposing new and more complex risks. ABeam Consulting is a comprehensive consulting firm that transforms client businesses. We improve corporate governance structures and enterprise risk management to strengthen management for sustained growth and ensure sound, legal, and fair corporate operations.

Improving corporate governance and enterprise risk management

The digital shift at companies has accelerated. To keep up with these changes, we rapidly insert cutting-edge technology into the services we provide to our clients. The organizational structures driving projects to support transformation have multiplied.

To co-create new value with stakeholders, we anticipate that there will be more occasions to come into contact with client confidential information. The shifting business environment will cause the risks associated with doing business to multiply and increase in complexity.

To sustainably increase the growth and corporate value of our group, we are building and improving sound, fair, and agile decision-making processes in our group management. We create frameworks to drive these processes. ABeam Consulting will continue to identify business risks and clarify individual risk policies. We will also build still stronger governance structures, and foster sensitivity to and awareness of these risks.

Our five-member Board of Directors currently meets once per month, making important management decisions and monitoring the executive circumstances of the business. The Management Committee also meets monthly to deliberate and make decisions about important executive business matters and to review agenda items from the Board of Directors. Three auditors verify the effectiveness of the company’s internal controls and the status of the company’s information security systems. They audit the directors, mutually check the details of that work, audit each organization within the company and verify the appropriateness and soundness of the company’s execution of its business.

Improving the social-orientation and transparency of corporate management

Information security

To mitigate information security risks, we have obtained Privacy Mark certification. ABeam Consulting will continue to implement company-wide measures to protect personal information. Each business unit has also acquired an ISMS (Information Security Management System) certification. We will continue to implement ongoing and reliable information security measures by establishing structures for appropriate management of information assets and risks. ABeam Consulting works to maintain the trust of all stakeholders by mitigating and minimizing the potential impacts of information security issues through compliance management.

ABeam Code of Conduct

In October of 2005, we formulated the “ABeam Code of Conduct.” We aim to fulfil the companies vision of “being a genuine partner to clients as a global consulting firm,” and to promote legally-compliant management. Through these standards, ABeam ensures that every employee maintains the attitude of “increasing the corporate value of the group by doing their part to fulfill the company’s social responsibilities.”

The group has spread to every part of the globe. Employees come from many different backgrounds. Our clients are also diverse, including Japanese firms with locations around the world and other global companies. Because ABeam offers consulting services in this business environment, we believe it is important to respect the values and diversity of all stakeholders. We also aim to develop a compliance management approach with a global perspective.

Our group’s stance is that all executives and employees are to undertake business activities that respect human rights and understand international standards regarding human rights (beginning with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights). The group does not condone discriminatory acts or acts that infringe on human dignity, and prohibits everyone from being involved in such acts. ABeam Consulting practices these standards as the foundation of the company’s compliance management. We promote understanding and compliance by producing booklets containing the standards and distributing them across our group companies, making the standards available on our internal portal site, and conducting annual compliance training for employees.

Internal reporting system

ABeam has internal reporting system regulations and a helpline for compliance with ethical and legal standards. The helpline is available for reporting executives and employees of our group companies, and former executives and employees who left the company up to a year ago.

The helpline is structured to facilitate its usage, with users able to make internal reports anonymously or via third-party institutions. These regulations establish that neither the company nor any employee may disadvantageously treat or retaliate against any reporter or investigation participant. Investigators are obligated to treat any information that can be used to identify reporters, investigation participants, and the details of reports and investigations as confidential information.

This system minimizes compliance risks by quickly detecting misconduct, illegal acts, and unethical conduct by a person or company in light of company rules and legal compliance.

Compliance awareness survey

Since 2020, ABeam Consulting has conducted internal compliance surveys every year targeting all executives and employees. This furthers ABeam’s compliance efforts by allowing us to understand the awareness and attitudes of all executives and employees about promoting compliance at ABeam. It also helps us identify compliance practices in their day-to-day activities, latent compliance risks at the company, and other matters.
