ABeam Consulting Ltd.
TOKYO, JAPAN - INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announced that it has commenced operation of SAP® Cloud ERP Private*, provided by SAP Japan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshiro Horikawa; hereinafter “SAP Japan”), as an IT platform supporting its global management reform.
ABeam Consulting Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takahiro Yamada; hereinafter “ABeam Consulting”) leveraged its extensive track record in supporting management infrastructure transformation and provided end-to-end support for INPEX, from redesigning business processes and data foundations to system implementation and adoption, in alignment with the evolution of INPEX’s management strategy.
(* SAP Cloud ERP Private refers to SAP S/4HANA® Cloud Private Edition.)
INPEX previously utilized its core system “IBOS (SAP® ERP)” introduced in 2008 to support its initial management strategies of maintaining and expanding reserves and expanding business domains. Subsequently, under “INPEX Vision 2035,” formulated in February 2025, INPEX has significantly shifted its direction toward leading a “responsible energy transition,” while maintaining a stable supply of energy, in response to growing geopolitical risks and accelerating initiatives in low-carbon businesses such as hydrogen and ammonia, CCS, and renewable energy.
Against this backdrop, INPEX initiated a transformation of its management foundation, including the renewal of its system platform, to respond flexibly to changes in both internal and external environments. As its implementation partner, INPEX selected ABeam Consulting, which possesses extensive knowledge and experience in supporting transformation in the energy industry, and established a structure to promote end-to-end reform—from business process innovation to system design, development, implementation, and adoption.
As the system platform underpinning this transformation, INPEX decided to adopt SAP Cloud ERP Private, which has a proven global track record. Key factors behind this decision included the low risk of large-scale system failures in areas such as data migration and system integration, enhanced flexibility through cloud adoption, reduced operational and management burdens, and compatibility with advanced technologies such as AI.
For system development, rather than addressing gaps identified through traditional Fit & Gap analysis with add-ons, INPEX adopted a Fit-to-Standard approach, aligning business processes with SAP best practices. This approach shortened development time and enabled full-scale operation to commence in Japan in January 2026.
Through this initiative, INPEX aims to optimize its core operations and strengthen its data-driven management foundation, thereby enabling timely and accurate decision-making even in a rapidly changing business environment.
The main objectives of the new system are as follows:
INPEX is Japan’s largest exploration and production (E&P) company, engaged in the development and operation of oil and gas projects worldwide. We are committed to contributing to a brighter future by delivering energy in a sustainable way. As part of this commitment, we are also engaging in lower-carbon solutions such as CCS, hydrogen and integrated power supply, while pursuing new opportunities in the evolving energy landscape.
