ChatGPT: The Game-Changing AI Sharping the Future- What will come next?

AI technology today has played more significant roles in the business, professional, and daily life spheres. One particular area of focus is Generative AI (Gen-AI) – which refers to modern artificial intelligence specifically designed to “regenerate” content based on existing data using the Generative Model algorithm. According to a survey conducted by Gartner reveals that 70% of executives state that their organizations are currently exploring and studying generative AI technology. They are actively considering budget allocations for implementing such solutions, and the question arises regarding the appropriate budget that would be deemed worthwhile. Notably, the most popular Gen-AI applications at present are ChatGPT.

Since its launch in late 2022, ChatGPT has significantly enhanced people’s perception of artificial intelligence capabilities. Its introduction has had widespread implications for the technology industry and society regarding adaptation to AI-based solutions. Developed by OpenAI a prominent artificial intelligence research and development institution, and introduced to the public on November 30, 2022, ChatGPT has garnered success due to its remarkable ability to provide reliable and prompted answers to a wide range of questions within seconds, generate concise summaries from lengthy texts, assist with business planning and even aid programmers in writing some codes. Moreover, it is noteworthy that ChatGPT can interact in the Thai language.

Most recently, ABeam Consulting (Thailand) – one of the global business and digital transformation consulting firms specializing in end-to-end digital transformation, has raised concerns about the accuracy of artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT. While ChatGPT may produce seemingly reliable, it is crucial to consider both the accuracy of the information and the sources from which the system draws its data. Upon investigation, it has been discovered that the data referred to by the system still exhibits some level of inaccuracy. This observation highlights the importance of critically assessing AI-generated information and ensuring that it aligns with verified and reliable sources.

Mr.Kittipoom Lertnitipong, Director of CIO Advisory, ABeam Consulting (Thailand) Co., Ltd., has made a thought-provoking comment regarding the use of ChatGPT: “Although ChatGPT represents itself as an intelligent companion capable of addressing a wide range of question, there are indeed valid copyright concerns related to the final contents and answers it generates. The output produced by ChatGPT could potentially be a compilation
of information copyrighted works owned by others. Consequently, this could lead to a heightened risk of legal action regarding copyright infringement. Therefore, ChatGPT is not something to be used for creating a finished product that can be used immediately without proofing or rechecking the sources of information. ChatGPT should be viewed as a valuable tool that opens new possibilities and expedites outcomes. However, it should only be utilized to create finished products with thorough proofing and verification of the sources of information.”

Mr. Kittipoom adds: “Another significant concern not to miss is cybersecurity when using AI systems like ChatGPT. As this AI process data inputs at the central server, particularly if we feed sensitive corporate data, e.g., financial or work-related figures, into ChatGPT, Google Bard, or Bing Chat, for further processing, it will be highly prone to a high risk of data leakage. To illustrate the potential risks, one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers experienced an issue where data confidentiality was compromised when at least three employees used ChatGPT to summarize meetings and improve and fix program coding. Despite the information introduced to the system being marked as confidential, the usage of ChatGPT resulted in unintended data exposure.

In response to such incidents, Open AI, the developers of ChatGPT, have recognized the problem and are taking steps to address it. They are planning to introduce a service plan known as ChatGPT for Business. This plan aims to ensure that AI models are not trained using user data, thus enhancing data security and confidentiality. Organizations can use ChatGPT securely and efficiently by implementing this service plan, limiting the risk of data leaks and safeguarding sensitive information.

According to ABeam Consulting (Thailand) asserts that when contemplating digital transformation and the integration of AI and automated systems, it is essential to recognize that AI's potential to replace human intelligence is primarily applicable to tasks that are inherently unsuitable for humans. Specifically, AI is most effective in taking over repetitive tasks or tasks that entail handling vast volumes of data. In such scenarios, AI's innate capabilities, including speed and precision, make it a more efficient and accurate option compared to human counterparts.

Indeed, the progression of the world is inevitable, and technological advancements will continue to shape the future. In the generations to come, a shift from traditional computer learning to AI learning will likely become more prevalent as AI technologies become increasingly integrated into various aspects of daily life.

While AI can replace specific tasks that were previously performed by humans, jobs that heavily rely on soft skills and emotional intelligence will likely remain essential. These uniquely human abilities, such as creativity, empathy, communication, and critical thinking, cannot be easily replicated by AI systems. Therefore, roles that require strong interpersonal connections, complex problem-solving, and decision-making based on ethical considerations will continue to require human intelligence.

For those whose tasks may be substituted by AI, it opens up opportunities for re-skilling and upskilling. Embracing this transformation can lead to the improvement and optimization of these roles. By acquiring new skills and competencies, individuals can adapt to the changing landscape and find new ways to contribute effectively to the workforce. By embracing the changes and opportunities that AI offers, we can drive progress and create a future that benefits both individuals and society as a whole.

Fun Fact About ChatGPT
GPT, as shown in ChatGPT, stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. It is a big-data-trained language model further built by OpenAI from the Transformer model previously developed by Google.
