SAP S/4HANA® Enterprise Management Implementation
ABeam Malaysia has completed the implementation of SAP S/4HANA® Enterprise Management system to replace Pharmaniaga’s existing ERP, Navision and Macalo solutions. The new system simplifies and streamlines the information technology process by deploying one platform across all of Pharmaniaga’s Malaysian manufacturing sites. The project scope includes finance, purchasing, quality management, production, inventory and sales.

Pharmaniaga Berhad, a member of Boustead Group is an investment holding company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia. The Pharmaniaga Group’s core businesses are generic pharmaceuticals manufacturing; research and development; marketing and sales; warehousing and distribution of pharmaceutical and medical products; supply, trading and installation of medical and hospital equipment as well as community pharmacy.

The Manufacturing Division offers a wide range of products and services, including product development for the pharmaceutical industry. The product portfolio comprises of oral solid dosages, liquid, cream and small volume injectables. Its products portfolio includes the manufacturing of general pharmaceuticals, including penicillin, cephalosporin and over-the-counter (OTC) products. Through its research in bio-collagen, they also produce collagen-based medical devices for wound care management.
Pharmaniaga’s manufacturing facilities are designed and constructed according to international pharmaceutical engineering guidelines and comply with the international Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) requirements for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Its Quality Management System is certified to ISO 9001 standards, its Occupational Health and Safety practices are certified to OHSAS 18001 standards while its Environment Management System is certified to ISO 14001 standards. The Quality Control Laboratories are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited. Compliance to these Quality Systems have made Pharmaniaga the preferred contract manufacturing partner for multinational companies.

Solutions - Why SAP S/4HANA®
Pharmaniaga appointed ABeam Consulting for the deployment of the SAP S/4HANA®, a real-time enterprise resource management suite for digital business. SAP S/4HANA® is built on SAP’s advanced in-memory platform, SAP HANA® and offers a personalised, consumer-grade user experience SAP Fiori®. This new system implementation is aimed at providing an avenue for Pharmaniaga to elevate its effectiveness and efficiency in managing production orders, quality management, delivery and product costing.

Results of the implementation
Working with ABeam Consulting as the implementation partner, Pharmaniaga embarked on this project with the aim of becoming a full-fledged integrated healthcare solutions provider by standardising its operations across all its Malaysian manufacturing plants.
The SAP S/4HANA system was implemented at all of Pharmaniaga’s Malaysian manufacturing sites and went live in November 2017. The successful implementation signifies a new chapter in the company’s strategic digital transformation journey.
