Preserving Mt. Fuji’s natural environment

Annual environmental conservation activity at the foot of Mt. Fuji

ABeam Consulting has been participating in cleanup and foreign plants extermination activities by The Fujisan Club since 2007. In FY2022, the 16th year of participation, ABeam members collected 300kg of garbage including combustible wastes, plastics, and debris.

Most of the participants felt their awareness on environment increased through the activity. Some even answered “we need more time for cleanup activity” to the questionnaire after the event.

This activity aims for preserving the natural environment of Mt. Fuji as a symbol of Japan and raising awareness on sustainability among employees.

Pro-bono Activities for The Fujisan Club

Since 2019 we have provided support to help The Fujisan Club organize, prioritize, and resolve the issues it faces.

【Topics we are currently working on】

(1) Organization of information such as member information
While member information is managed by a dedicated system, it is distributed to other systems and managed using multiple systems and tools, so there are challenges in centralizing and utilizing the information.
We are currently proceeding with the selection of candidate member information systems that are easy for NPOs to use, and plan to provide support for establishing operations and to consider matters such as data utilization.

(2) Support for Activities to Raise Awareness Among Foreigners
Mt. Fuji’s popularity is growing each year among mountain climbers not only in Japan but also from overseas. However, the increase in littering on the mountain trails and near the station has become an issue due to those who do not know that there are no trash receptacles along the trails and tourists who try to climb Mt. Fuji without preparing properly.

For several years, The Fujisan Club has collaborated with Shizuoka Prefecture for a public awareness campaign including the distribution of trash bags primarily to foreign mountain climbers. ABeam also provided support for this activity in fiscal 2021.
We will continue contributing to the resolution of the littering problem on Mt. Fuji by making voice announcements at Mt. Fuji and creating and collecting questionnaires.

【Past topics】

(1) Support for creating criteria for accepting new projects
Previously, when The Fujisan Club was contacted by municipalities about taking on projects, the decision to accept or reject the project was made without any clear criteria.
We created criteria enabling them to appropriately select projects based on specific metrics such as whether the project is expected to be profitable, and whether it aligns with the policies that The Fujisan Club aims to achieve.

(2) Selecting an outsourcing partner for accounting work
The Fujisan Club accounting staff were faced with a heavy workload, so we supported the identification and selection of outsourcing partner candidates in order to lighten the accounting workload.
Note: The outsourcing of accounting work has been postponed due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.

(3) New employee training
In April 2019, The Fujisan Club hired one new graduate. The Fujisan Club had not hired a new graduate for many years, so they faced the challenge of not having a training curriculum for new employees.

With a limited budget, we organized the training content required by The Fujisan Club, selected the content to provide that training, and proposed a combination of basic business skill acquisition through online training, on-the-job training, and external training, and supported the implementation. For the online training in particular, ABeam selected the courses required for the new employee from among 4,500 training courses.

The new employee successfully completed the training, and The Fujisan Club was able to achieve maximum results through minimal costs, since existing staff members attended the online training leading to improved overall business skills for The Fujisan Club.
