Team ABeam's Manami Doi wins gold in Asian Games 2018.
Manami Doi won a gold medal at the 18th Asian Games (Asiad) held in Palembang, Jakarta, becoming the first Japanese competitor to win an Asiad gold medal in women’s Laser Radial-class sailing. Doi held the lead from the first day of the games, which ran from August 24th through 31st. Maintaining stable racing performance throughout, she had pulled far ahead of the 2nd place and other teams by the final day of the tournament.
No Japanese women’s Laser radial-class sailing competitor had ever before won a gold medal in an international competition, making Doi’s accomplishment an unprecedented triumph. Her next competition will be in September Round 1 action of the 2019 World Cup series back home in Japan at Enoshima Yacht Harbor. We look forward to her further success.
