ABeam Consulting Collaborates on Government IoT/BD/AI Promotion Project

ABeam Consulting Ltd. has announced that it has been selected as a representative research institute for the “IoT/BD/AI Information Communication Platform,” a project commissioned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) to promote research and development for an advanced natural language processing platform that uses cutting-edge natural language processing technologies.

ABeam Consulting will engage in the project by working with the University of Occupational & Environmental Health, the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience. The collaboration will carry out the processing of natural language, focusing on four key areas comprising disaster medical care, health & hygiene, social infrastructure & disaster prevention, and security activities mediated by SNS and administered by local governments and related institutions. The project will work to define requirements, develop designs, verify and assess experimental results, and conduct tests of the advanced natural language processing platform.

A further goal will be to promote coordination and utilization of the platform among different industries. The platform will be used to ensure public safety during such emergencies as fires, infectious pandemics, natural disasters and other large-scale incidents, and to mitigate their impact on communities.

■ Project Outline
Commissioned companies will research and develop an advanced natural language platform capable of handling increasingly diverse information sources and ever-growing volumes of information to help address numerous societal issues confronting the country. Issues to be addressed are specified in participating companies’ initial proposals.
Specifically, the project aims to improve the basic accuracy, efficiency and promptness of cutting-edge natural language processing technologies in tasks such as gathering, organizing, searching, analyzing, sharing and delivering information. The resulting platform should be able to effectively handle diversification of information sources and increases in volumes of information that need to be processed.
Through our work on this project, we will be able to enhance our information analysis and power-saving capabilities while enhancing productivity, readiness, swift decision-making and inter-organizational information sharing. We will also improve in terms of expanded scope of information, acquisition of new knowledge and creation of value in our work with government agencies, regional governments, corporations, other organizations and local communities.
By establishing an advanced and creative information communication platform utilizing cutting-edge natural language processing technologies through this project, we may be able to prompt a radical paradigm shift in the existing ICT system design and platforms. This would facilitate the resolution of important societal issues.
