Our client is one of the leading global producer of LCD panels in the world, its main products are LCD TV panels and LCD panel displays for desktop and notebook computers, delivered to IT and home electronics vendors worldwide.
CHALLENGE
In recent years, the LCD panels industry has grown rapidly. In a very short period of time, this firm's employee numbers increased from a few thousand to nearly 40,000 worldwide, and the number continues to grow. The employees are located in different countries and cities. Like all multinational firms, our client is facing challenges in managing its global talent.
In addition, the client had tried to enhance existing Oracle systems to cope with their rapid growth, but were unsuccessful in meeting their complex HR and Payroll system requirements. Furthermore, the IT team was unable to cope with new requests using the in-house developed Oracle system due to increasing automation demands and limited time restrictions.
As a result, the decision was made to build a centralized Human Resource platform based on SAP to establish global operation standards and processes, to manage global talent and to improve operation efficiency.
WHY ABEAM?
ABeam was chosen due to its rich multinational enterprise service experiences in Human Capital Management. It provided a total solution from business process re-engineering to implementation of HRIS. Early in the process, ABeam earned the trust of key decision makers in the IT department through its HCM package assessment services.
SOLUTION
ABeam adopted SAP's ASAP implementation methodology to facilitate close cooperation with the HR and IT departments. The joint effort implements SAP HCM modules and ESS/MSS (Employee Self Service/Manager Self Service) solutions to the multinational enterprise.
This complex platform is phased-in in stages. The first phase of implementation was to develop the Performace Management and Development system using the SAP portal with Webdynpro Java technology which launched on Novemeber 2007.
In the second phase, the project scope covers four HCM core modules and ESS/MSS application: Organization Management, Personnel Administration, Personnel Time and Payroll. ABeam has deployed Personal Information Query/Modification, e-Payslip, Duputy Application, Shift Planning, Leave and Overtime online applications. Custom interfaces were developed between SAP and other internal systems such as Notes, in-housed developed e-Recruiting and e-Org systems. The second phase is scheduled to be go-live on 1st of January, 2009.
A third phase, a rollout in China, was the final hurdle.
