德硕管理咨询与NEC为日本帝人的公司整体会计系统更新提供支持
TOKYO, JAPAN 2010/6/22: NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) (*1) and ABeam Consulting Ltd. (ABeam) (*2) announced today their joint participation in Teijin Ltd.’s (Teijin) (*3) “Project G-ONE” to establish a new companywide accounting system by supporting construction of the system’s infrastructure.
The new system’s adoption of “SAP(R) ERP” (enterprise resource planning) core management software enabled the centralization of Teijin’s new accounting system for its 34 domestic group companies with 6,000 employees, and includes the optimization of accounting data, the strengthening of internal controls and the acceleration of management decisions.
The new system’s budgeting functions began operation in December 2009. In April 2010, the system successfully launched full operations, including accounting functions for all 34 group companies. In the future, the system is planned for expansion to all Teijin Group locations worldwide.
Teijin aims to achieve global excellence and promotes diverse business operations under its brand credo, “Human Chemistry, Human Solutions.” The company is moving forward with the construction of global system infrastructure that responds to a full scope of contemporary business requirements, including M&A, corporate governance, business portfolio reform and changes in accounting system regulations, in order to establish and maintain a competitive position in global markets.
The new accounting system is a large-scale multilingual, multi-currency ERP system that provides a broad range of accounting services, including financial accounting, management accounting, taxation and governance, to all Teijin group companies in such diverse fields as synthetic fibers, chemicals, films and pharmaceuticals.
Project G-ONE has been supported by the Teijin group company Infocom Corp. (*4), who provided warehousing, NEC’s project implementation and infrastructure and ABeam’s SAP ERP mainframe operational software. All processes involved in this project -- from overall project planning to requirements definition to planning/development, testing/implementation and support subsequent to go-live -- were all carried out in keeping with the ABeam Method, a methodology unique to ABeam Consulting. This large-scale project featured as many as 200 staff at the peak of its activity. Teijin, Infocom, NEC and ABeam worked together to implement the project through a collaborative framework that enabled the system to go live just 15 months after the initial assessment of requirements in October 2008. The system launched simultaneously throughout all of the Teijin group companies in order to link with each of their ongoing SAP implementation projects. These efforts and the highly evaluated performance of the project were recognized through receipt of the SAP AWARD OF EXCELLENCE 2010 in the Project Award category.
The main features of the new system are as follows:
State-of-the-art solutions for improved system functionality
SAP BPC (business planning and consolidation) and other cutting-edge solutions improve the efficiency of drafting budgets, SAP GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) strengthens internal control and SAP MDM (master data management) enables integrated management of global master data. Utilization of SAP BO (business objects) for data warehousing enables visualization of content under management.
Adoption of solutions for maximum utilization of standard SAP functions
Deployment of solutions that fully capitalize on standard SAP functions through standardization of each group company's business processes at the pre-implementation phase. This enables the implementation of a variety of tasks, such as budget compilation and cost accounting, using the same system. It also provides all the capabilities necessary for internal controls, such as stringent billing approval management, as well as tools for income/expense management along different analytical dimensions, such as income/expense analysis by business operation or by product.
Implementing user-friendly systems
User-friendly systems were established, such as Excel-based budget-input systems using SAP BPC, and web-based workflow product utilization, etc.
Creation of an infrastructure base that emphasizes the availability of systems
The infrastructure environment was established with a strong emphasis on availability and stability in order to be used as a centralized enterprise information system spanning across group companies. NEC’s “Express5800/SIGMABLADE,” a blade server that boasts an extensive track record of implementation performance, secured the system’s stability while keeping redundancy to a minimum. At the same time, the design was executed with due consideration for the performance and efficiency of operations and maintenance so that operations could be quickly and effectively handed over to the customer.
Looking forward, NEC and ABeam aim to capitalize on their experience from this project, and each company’s complementary strengths, in order to expand their systems-related activities both domestically and abroad, and to continue to providing solutions that contribute to increasing the corporate value for the Teijin group.
